EFT Tapping and Trauma Resolution

To truly transform our lives, we must first unearth the core beliefs that reside in our subconscious mind, shaping our thoughts, emotions, and daily actions. As Carl Jung once wisely said:

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”

What is EFT and How Can It Help You?

How EFT helps the Nervous System

Trauma isn't just about what happened to us; it's how our body reacted. Many people don't realise how much trauma they've been exposed to, as we often think of trauma only as major life events. However, trauma can appear in many ways, especially in childhood. Even a small, thoughtless comment can trigger a fight-or-flight response in our nervous system, making us feel unsafe potentially starting a trauma cycle. Our body holds onto these memories, embedding them in our nervous system along with associated thoughts, emotions, and sensations. Later, similar experiences can resurface these memories, causing the same responses.

EFT helps by calming our nervous system, shifting us from the sympathetic "fight-flight-freeze" state to the parasympathetic "rest and digest" state. Crucially, EFT also helps complete trauma cycles that we often get stuck in, which can lead to ongoing distress and physical symptoms.

When a traumatic event occurs, our body prepares for action. Often, these cycles remain incomplete, leaving us in chronic stress. EFT provides a safe way to process and release these incomplete trauma responses. By tapping on acupuncture points while focusing on the traumatic memory or feeling, EFT allows the body to finally complete the stress cycle.

Where the resolution comes in; In moments of trauma, we often form subconscious beliefs as a survival response. These beliefs shape our perceptions and future experiences. Matrix Reimprinting, a powerful technique developed by EFT expert Karl Dawson, goes beyond resolving trauma; it reshapes our perception of it. By revisiting traumatic moments using EFT Tapping, we can complete the trauma cycle and reframe associated beliefs. This process transforms past events from sources of distress into opportunities for strength and growth, allowing us to approach life with renewed resilience and positivity.

This process can lead to:

  • Reduced stress and anxiety

  • Better sleep

  • Improved mood

  • Enhanced overall well-being

Over time, EFT can significantly reduce the impact of past traumas, allowing us to respond to present situations with greater calm and resilience.

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), or "tapping," is a powerful stress reduction method combining ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology. It's a simple yet effective technique that can help manage stress, anxiety, and even physical pain. EFT involves gently tapping on specific acupuncture points while focusing on particular thoughts or emotions. It's not just a psychological technique, but a physiological one too, addressing both mind and body.

How EFT Works

When we tap on specific acupuncture points whilst focusing on negative feelings or emotions, we stimulate the primo vascular system (also known as acupuncture meridians). This unique combination of physical touch and mental focus creates a powerful effect. The tapping sends calming signals to our brain's 'stress centre' (the amygdala), which is responsible for processing emotions and triggering the body's stress response.

As we continue tapping and thinking about the issue, the amygdala begins to perceive the situation as less threatening. This process helps to rewire our brain's response to stressful thoughts or memories. Over time, this can lead to a significant reduction in the emotional intensity associated with traumatic memories or anxiety-provoking situations. Essentially, EFT helps create new, calmer associations with previously distressing thoughts, allowing us to respond more peacefully to life's challenges.
